Own Your Future at Marion Independent School District

Welcome to Marion Independent School District (MISD), where our mission is to 'Foster a community of learners in developing the knowledge and skills to be Future Ready'.  The district values academic excellence, collaborative relationships, and student engagement.

MISD is located in the Cedar Rapids/Marion metropolitan area, providing a spectacular blend of urban amenities with a 'small school family feel'.  The district is the 4th oldest public school district in the state of Iowa and the 2nd smallest geographically.

MISD proudly serves over 3,100 students, employs over 350 staff, and manages a 30M budget annually.  We maintain enrollment of just under 2,000 students in our comprehensive PK-12 programs and just over 1,000 students enrolled in our Marion Home School Assistance Program, which serves students throughout the metro and surrounding area.  In addition to academic rigor, the district offers a variety of activities for student involvement, with nearly 90% of students participating in 1 or more extracurricular activities as well as school and community volunteer opportunities.  The annual graduation rate, at 98%, is consistently above the state average.  Additionally, our graduates have earned the highest college credit per student in the metro area.
