✨ We welcome Sami Roberts as a 5th Grade Math & Science Teacher at Vernon Middle School!
Sami grew up in Grimes, moved to Cedar Rapids to attend Coe College for a degree in Elementary Education and to play softball. She currently lives in Cedar Rapids with her husband, young daughter, and dog, and is entering her 13th year of teaching.
Sami says, "I choose to join the team at MISD because of their reputation for building a strong positive community to help every student become the best they can be."

Samantha is originally from North Dakota, went to school in South Dakota, and is now here with her husband and three children, who attend school in our district! She enjoys reading in her free time.

✨ We welcome Tannor McDonald as a 5th Grade Math & Science Teacher at VMS!
Tannor is originally from Iowa City, earned her degree in Elementary and Middle Level Education, and chose MISD because of its smaller community feel within a bigger city.
Tannor says, "I am excited to bring my enthusiasm and passion for learning to the district and to continue helping students reach their full potential. I am also looking forward to learning and growing as an educator while being surrounded by inspiring individuals!"

✨ We welcome Justin Hill as a PE and Health teacher at MHS and VMS!
Justin graduated from UNI and has been teaching for the past six years. He lives in Cedar Rapids with his girlfriend, Raven, and her son, and they're expecting!
Justin says, "I am excited to meet everyone, get started working in a high-quality PE and health program, and jump into coaching, starting with the varsity football team this fall."

Marshall graduated from MHS in 2019, recently earned his degree from the University of Iowa, and is an avid fan of all things fantasy and fiction.
Marshall says, "I hope to take part in and give back to this community that helped guide me to where I am today."

New Teacher Orientation was a success and our new teachers were all ready to go for Day 1! Two days of learning and networking wrapped up with a special thanks to Farmers State Bank (FSB) for providing a delicious lunch from LJ's for our new teachers and their mentors.
