Ms. Suzette Ehrle, 6th Grade Literacy teacher at Vernon Middle School, was thankful to recently receive a Marion Foundation Grant to "give a ginormous adrenaline shot" to her current classroom library. The Marion Foundation provides grants to MISD educators twice a year, with teachers encouraged to apply for funding for much-needed classroom enhancements. Ms. Ehrle's grant request addressed a lack of variety of books in her classroom library, which was awarded during the Fall 2023 grant cycle.
The voracious readers in Ms. Ehrle's classroom were excited to be introduced to the wide variety of new titles in her classroom library. In order to "meet" the new books, Ms. Ehrle held a "Speed Dating" activity, where students were able to quickly discover more about the new books and learn which most piqued their interest. Ms. Ehrle's students will be sure to enjoy the new infusion of books into their classroom library throughout this school year and beyond. MISD staff and students thank the Marion Foundation for their constant support of classroom initiatives within our district!
