MARION, IA — The Des Moines Register, Iowa’s largest newspaper, has named Marion Independent School District a 2024 Iowa Top Workplace, ranking it among the state’s best employers based on employee feedback.
The 2024 list recognized businesses, organizations, and agencies across various industries. Rankings are determined through a confidential employee survey administered by Energage LLC, which evaluates 15 key culture drivers essential to organizational success, including alignment, execution, and connection.
Marion ISD ranked 51st overall and was the second-highest-ranked Iowa school district in the 150-499 employee category.
"We are thrilled to be recognized as a Top Workplace for 2024," said Janelle Brouwer, Superintendent. "Our success is rooted in our goals as a district. We strive to attract and retain high-quality staff who are engaged in ongoing, collaborative professional learning while also establishing and maintaining a safe environment that supports the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of each learner."
Marion ISD serves more than 3,100 students, including 2,000 in its comprehensive PK-12 programs and over 1,100 enrolled in the Marion Home School Assistance Program. The district maintains a 98% graduation rate, consistently above the state average. Marion ISD also has the highest open enrollment numbers in the metro area, with more than 30% of students coming from outside the district.
