This month in Physical Education (P.E.) Parkview students have been working on FitnessGram measurements and soccer skills. FitnessGram measurements are done K-12 at Marion. It is a way for Physical Education teachers to see student’s current fitness levels and what they can do to improve student fitness levels. At Parkview, the focus is on learning how to do the measurements correctly. These measurements include: push-ups, sit-ups, bent arm hang, shoulder flexibility, and a 15 meter pacer run.
As students finish up their testing, they will move on to a very popular unit, soccer! In the soccer unit they are using teamwork to improve soccer skills. Specifically, students are also working on passing, dribbling, trapping the ball, and scoring goals. They do this by participating in stations for each skill. After practicing this a few times, students take these skills and play a crazy, fun soccer game called Four Corner Soccer. This game is a fast-paced game that has four teams playing at the same time, with several balls being used at the same time. It is a student favorite!
